2023 has led me down an Astrology rabbit hole (ironic that 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit🐰) as I try to make light of the forces playing out in different areas of my life, especially during these intense months of March-May.
What I've learned is this: We are not fated by the cosmos. Rather, we can use the knowledge of upcoming transits as a heads up and still exert free will to co-create our reality. Otherwise, why succumb to the doom and gloom? We are humans (not programmable robots as some would want us to believe) with a consciousness, a soul, a heart, creativity, and intuition, and able to make our own sovereign decisions.
With that in mind, know that the upcoming two eclipses will lead to big, lasting change, personally and collectively. But in the end, the type of change and how it plays out is up to us. As they are related to the moon and the nodal axes, these eclipses will heighten our emotional state more than usual. HSPs and Empaths will certainly feel it more deeply.
This particular Eclipse is rare and the second of a series of new moons in Aries (usually, there's only one new moon a month). The first took place on the Spring Equinox and the second, a month later as a Hybrid Solar Eclipse on April 19/20 (depending on your timezone). Typically, we see the energies play out for six months but this one will extend into 2024 because of its interplay with the planet Pluto. So extra staying power here!
The key aspect to note about this cosmic event is how it will work with Aries in your birth chart. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac (linked to your birth into this world and initial identity) and is considered the warrior, the initiator, the one who goes bravely and courageously forward. Where is the sign of Aries located within your unique 12-part wheel? That location will indicate what house or stage of life the action will unfold in. For me, it's the 10th house of career and public image. What is it for you? You can access your free birth chart at Astro.com for more details.
If you follow the monthly lunar cycles, you'll know that New Moons represent culminations or release points. Amidst this ebb and flow period, we see the fruits of our seeds play out for six months, as mentioned above.
A Solar Eclipse, however, is a New Moon on steroids!
And this one plays out at the very end of the Aries pie piece (at 29 of a total 30 degrees) so expect both initiations and endings to show up. Is there something you've been holding onto that you're finally ready to release? Has it been weighing on your heavily and robbing your energy as an HSP? It may even be a situation from which you are ready to break free to feel more empowered and self-confident.
This energy may show up in your personal life and also on the world stage (ie. current events) in the form of collapses. In my opinion, these falls are called for now as we transition to a more equitable, beautiful, compassionate, regenerative New Earth. Endings are painful, no doubt, and the world is particularly colorful right now.
Extra self-care is definitely encouraged around this time. Your sleep may be disrupted and your thoughts a bit hectic but know that this will all pass as the energy clears. Nourish yourself, hydrate, connect gently with nature and return to your heart when life feels overwhelming.
I am so grateful for Astrology in demonstrating these natural cycles and helping clear out what no longer serves to make space for something more aligned. Let's use it as a compass to understand a part of our experience and not judge it. Our internal guidance system holds enormous power as well.
